Dental Implants in China: A Cost & Process Guide
Chengdu has become a credible destination for dental work — strong hospital dentistry, modern implant systems, and prices well below the US and Western Europe. This guide explains what treatment actually costs, how the process is structured across visits, and what a coordination service like ours does (and does not) do.

Indicative prices (2026)
These are indicative ranges compiled from public price lists and patient reports — they are not quotes. Final pricing depends on the hospital, the implant brand chosen, your bone condition and the prosthesis material. A full single-tooth implant in China (fixture + abutment + crown) commonly lands between US$900 and US$2,200 all-in, versus US$4,000–8,000+ in the US.
How the process is structured
Visit 1 (planning & surgery): consultation, CBCT imaging, treatment plan and pricing confirmation, then implant placement. The surgical step itself is usually under an hour per implant, done under local anaesthesia.
Healing (3–6 months): the fixture integrates with the bone. You fly home and live normally; most patients report a couple of days of manageable soreness.
Visit 2 (restoration): the abutment and final crown are fitted. Short trip — often 3–5 days including a recovery-friendly itinerary.
Immediate-loading implants (temporary crown on day one) exist for suitable cases, but long-term data still favours the two-stage approach for most patients — be wary of anyone promising "new teeth in a day" without a thorough workup.
How to judge a provider
- Ask the implant brand — premium systems (Straumann, Nobel Biocare) publish global registries and parts availability, which matters if you move countries.
- Insist on CBCT-based planning — a panoramic X-ray alone is not enough for surgical planning.
- Get the written plan — itemised pricing, implant model/serial, crown material, and the follow-up schedule, in English.
- Check the warranty terms — many providers offer multi-year coverage on fixtures; understand what it requires (return visits, hygiene schedule).
What a coordinator does
We are not a clinic and we do not give medical advice. What we do: shortlist hospital dental departments with international-patient experience, arrange appointments and interpreter support, build a recovery-friendly itinerary (soft-food restaurants, hotel near the clinic, gentle day trips), and stay reachable throughout. You choose the provider and sign directly with them; the medical relationship stays between you and the hospital.
FAQ
Is it safe to get implants in China?
Top teaching-hospital dental departments work to international clinical standards with globally available implant systems. As anywhere, outcomes depend on the provider — vetting and written planning are what protect you.
How long do I need to stay for the first visit?
Typically 5–8 days including a rest day after surgery. We plan light itineraries around the procedure.
Can I combine treatment with sightseeing?
Many patients do — Chengdu's pandas and teahouses are low-exertion. Surgery days stay free of any strenuous plans.
