Drift through Wuyishan's signature gorge, then step into its Taoist heart
Half dayWuyishan
From $116 per group
The Nine-Bend Stream is the reason most travelers come to Wuyishan: a 9.5 km stretch of clear green water winding between red sandstone cliffs, best seen from a bamboo raft rather than a road. This half-day tour pairs that signature float with Wuyi Palace, the temple complex that gave the scenic area its name.
It is a relaxed, mostly seated morning — ideal if you have only half a day or want an easy introduction before a bigger hiking day.
Sample itinerary
- 08:30 — Hotel pickup, drive to Xingcun raft dock (about 20–30 min)
- 09:15 — Board the bamboo raft for the Nine-Bend Stream cruise (approx. 1.5 hours); your guide explains the named peaks, the hanging coffins and the Song-dynasty cliff inscriptions
- 11:00 — Disembark near Wuyi Palace and walk through the temple grounds and the Song Street replica (about 45 min)
- 12:00 — Transfer back to your hotel; drop-off around 12:30
Good to know
Raft departures run on fixed time slots and sell out early in peak season (Apr–Oct, national holidays), so book ahead. Each raft seats 6 and the ride is bumpy in places — wear flat shoes and bring sun protection. In heavy rain the stream may be closed for safety, in which case we substitute the Wuyi Palace and Dahongpao area walking tour and refund the raft ticket difference.
