An afternoon of Tibetan flavors and village crafts with a local host family.
This experience half-day is for travelers who want to slow down and connect with local Tibetan culture. You will be driven to a nearby village and welcomed into a family home. Your host will show you how to prepare butter tea and tsampa, the staple foods of the plateau. After tasting, you can try a simple handicraft—weaving a small bracelet or molding a clay figurine—while your guide helps translate stories about daily life in daocheng. It is a relaxed, hands-on afternoon that stays close to the city and suits almost any fitness level.
This tour is at a lower altitude than Yading and involves very little walking, making it a good choice for your first afternoon in daocheng or a rest day. Please let us know in advance if you have dietary restrictions. The handicraft you make is yours to keep. As a guest in a family home, respectful behavior and modest dress are appreciated. The itinerary may shift slightly depending on the family's daily schedule.
