Daocheng Yading Nature Reserve: Three Sacred Lakes Day Tour

This private day tour takes you into the heart of Yading Nature Reserve, a UNESCO-listed landscape of snow peaks, alpine lakes and high pastures. With your guide and driver, you cover the classic short and long routes in one day, visiting Pearl Lake, Milk Lake and Five-Color Lake at a pace that allows for acclimatization and photos. The tour is designed for travelers already staying in Daocheng and wanting a complete Yading experience without group logistics.

Sample itinerary

• 07:00 Hotel pickup in Daocheng and drive to Yading Visitor Center (about 1.5–2 hours)
• 09:00 Take the scenic shuttle to Zhaguanbeng, then short walk to Pearl Lake (about 20 minutes)
• 10:30 Walk from Zhaguanbeng to Chonggu Monastery and take the shuttle to Luorong Pasture
• 12:30 Begin the uphill hike from Luorong Pasture toward Milk Lake; optional horse ride if available
• 14:00 Arrive at Milk Lake (4,600 m), then continue 20–30 minutes to Five-Color Lake
• 15:30 Descend on foot back to Luorong Pasture
• 17:00 Shuttle to Yading Visitor Center, then private transfer back to Daocheng
• 19:00 Return to Daocheng hotel

Good to know

Yading's high altitude makes this a moderately strenuous day; the hike from Luorong Pasture to Milk Lake is about 5–6 km uphill and can take 2–3 hours at altitude. Horse rides may be available on a first-come basis but cannot be pre-booked. Bring sun protection, rain gear, layers and snacks; the shuttle and hiking routes may be adjusted by weather or park management.
