Executive Health Checkup in Chengdu: What Visitors Get
A full-day, hospital-grade health screening at West China Hospital (Sichuan University) — consistently ranked among China's best — costs RMB 3,000–12,000 (US$420–1,700) by tier, versus US$2,500–10,000+ for comparable executive physicals in the United States. Here is what a package includes and how a three-to-five day visit is organised.

Why Chengdu for a health checkup
China's top teaching hospitals run dedicated physical-examination centres (体检中心) with one-stop facilities: imaging, labs and specialist consults under one roof, same-day completion. In Chengdu these are attached to institutions in the West China (Sichuan University) medical system — consistently ranked among China's very best — as well as several large private hospitals catering to executives.
For international visitors the value proposition is straightforward: a comprehensive multi-system screening for approx. RMB 3,000–12,000 ($420–1,700) depending on tier, results typically within days, and zero waiting list. Comparable executive physicals in the US commonly run into the thousands of dollars and take weeks to schedule. The friction points are language (reports are issued in Chinese) and navigation — which is precisely what MyGuideTrip handles.
What the checkup involves
An executive-tier package is a single morning or full day. A typical sequence:
- Early arrival, fasting blood draw — the day starts before breakfast: complete blood count, metabolic panel, lipids, liver and kidney function, thyroid markers, and tumour-marker panels depending on package tier.
- Imaging block — chest X-ray or low-dose CT, abdominal ultrasound, and at higher tiers cardiac screening such as ECG, echocardiogram or stress testing.
- System checks — blood pressure, vision and hearing, lung function, BMI and body composition.
- Specialist consultations — physician review of history; higher tiers add organ-specific ultrasounds (thyroid, breast/gynaecological or prostate), gastroscopy or colonoscopy options, and dental or ENT screens.
- Debrief — a doctor walks you through preliminary findings before you leave; the formal written report follows in a few days.
Fasting from the previous evening is required; bring reading glasses and past medical reports if you want them referenced. Packages are modular — pick the tier, add specific screens à la carte.

Timeline for visitors
- Day 1 — Arrive. MyGuideTrip confirms your slot, briefs you on fasting requirements and hotel logistics.
- Day 2 — Checkup day. Arrive early, complete the screening by afternoon; preliminary debrief with the doctor before you leave.
- Day 3 — Sightseeing while the report is finalised — pandas, teahouses, our Chengdu tours.
- Day 4 — Report and translation. Written report received; we arrange an English walkthrough (clinic-provided or interpreter-assisted), and follow-up consults if findings warrant them.
- Day 5 — Depart with the full report — digital copies you can hand to your own physician at home.
Three to five days is the comfortable envelope. Same-week booking is normal, but high-demand centres prefer several days' notice.
How MyGuideTrip coordinates your checkup
We coordinate the visit; we do not interpret medical results — anything clinical goes to the doctors:
- Centre matching and booking — we match package tier and centre to your goals and dates, and reserve the slot.
- Full-day escort — an English-speaking companion accompanies you through the entire screening day: registration, directions between stations, and on-the-spot translation with staff and doctors.
- Report translation — the written Chinese report is translated, and we arrange an English-language debrief so you leave understanding every line.
- Logistics — fasting-friendly hotel choice, transfers, and payment via foreign-linked Alipay or WeChat Pay.
- Follow-up pathways — if findings warrant further investigation, we coordinate follow-up appointments or a documented referral process, including S2 visa paperwork pointers via our S2 visa guide.

FAQ
Will the report be in English?
The official report is in Chinese. MyGuideTrip arranges translation and an English debrief, so you receive both the original and a translated version you can share with your home physician.
Do I need to fast?
Yes for the blood panel — typically 8–12 hours, no breakfast, water usually allowed. We confirm the exact requirements with your centre and build them into the schedule.
What happens if something abnormal is found?
The examining doctor will say so at the debrief. We coordinate any follow-up appointment the doctors recommend, or full documentation for continuation at home. We do not interpret results ourselves.
How is this different from a home physical?
Composition overlaps, but compression is the difference: one morning, one roof, results in days. Whether it suits your medical situation is a question for your own doctor — we provide the access and logistics.
Can I add gastroscopy or colonoscopy?
Many centres offer these at higher tiers or as add-ons, with separate preparation requirements. Tell us early — endoscopic add-ons change the fasting and scheduling plan.
