Granite cliffs and the plank walk, one of China's sacred peaks
Full dayXi'an
From $194 per group
Huashan is the vertical one — a granite monolith rising 2,154 m, its paths to the summit carved where monks once pulled themselves up chains. The cable-car strategy turns a two-day ordeal into one exhilarating day: up the west face, across the ridge, down the north.
The plan
- 07:00 Depart Xi'an
- 08:30 West cable car to 2,090 m
- 09:00 Ridge walk: West → South (plank walk option) → East → Central
- 13:00 Lunch break at a peak-side hut
- 14:00 North peak, cable car down
- 16:00 Return to Xi'an
Good to know
The ridge walk involves stone stairs and one cliff section; the famous Plank Walk is optional and separately ticketed (CNY 30) with a full harness. Weather closes the mountain sometimes — we confirm the night before.
