Good to know

The upper trail involves some uneven steps and a 1.5-hour walk; wear comfortable shoes. The gorge is at about 1,800–2,000 m, lower than Lijiang, so altitude is usually not an issue. Bring a light jacket as the wind can pick up in the afternoon.
