Good to know

The drive to Karakul Lake is about 3.5 hours each way, mostly on paved highway. The altitude at the lake is 3,600m, so take it easy and stay hydrated. A passport is required for the checkpoint on the way. Bring warm clothing as it can be chilly even in summer.
