Yalong Bay is the crown jewel of Hainan's southern coast, a seven-kilometre crescent of silver-white sand and calm turquoise water often called China's most beautiful bay. Unlike Sanya's busier beaches, it remains clean, spacious and resort-quiet. Our private guides handle transfers, sunbed bookings and the best snorkelling spots, so you simply step onto the sand and unwind.

Yalong Bay (亚龙湾) lies about 25 kilometres southeast of downtown Sanya on Hainan Island, China's only tropical province. The bay's name means 'Asian Dragon Bay', and its geography is genuinely rare: a sheltered crescent facing south, with a fringing coral reef offshore and forested hills behind. That combination keeps the water calm and clear for most of the year, with visibility often reaching 8–10 metres. The beach itself is public and free to enter, but the shoreline is largely lined with international resorts, giving it a polished, low-density feel that appeals to families and couples alike.
Development began in the 1990s, when Hainan was designated a special economic zone and Sanya grew into China's premier beach destination. Today Yalong Bay is a 4A-rated scenic area with a dedicated resort strip, a marina, a golf course and the Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park in the hills above. For travellers, it works as a base as much as a beach: you can spend mornings swimming, afternoons exploring the forest park or nearby fishing villages, and evenings eating fresh seafood. Our guides know which stretches stay quietest and how to pair the bay with Sanya's other sights.

Yalong Bay is about 25 km from downtown Sanya and 30–40 minutes by taxi or private car from Phoenix International Airport (SYX). Ride-hailing via Didi works well and costs roughly ¥80–120 from the airport; metered taxis are similar. Public buses (e.g. 15, 24, 25) run from Sanya city, but they are slow and crowded with luggage. Most of our travellers use a private transfer, which we arrange door-to-door. The bay slots easily into a half-day or full-day trip, or as a two- to three-night beach stay combined with Sanya's cultural sights.
The public beach is free to enter and open 24 hours, though swimming is only permitted in designated zones during daylight. Resort day passes, sunbed rentals and umbrellas typically cost ¥100–300 per person depending on the hotel. The Tropical Paradise Forest Park charges about ¥140–170 including the cable car. Book park tickets via WeChat Mini Programs or Trip.com; foreign cards are accepted on Trip.com, while WeChat Pay and Alipay now link to international cards for most payments.
The best time to visit is November to April, when Hainan's dry season brings sunny days, lower humidity and calm seas. Avoid Chinese public holidays (especially Lunar New Year and the first week of October), when domestic crowds surge. For the beach itself, arrive before 9am or after 4pm to skip the midday heat and secure a good spot; late afternoon light is also best for photography.

Yes. The water is shallow and calm, the sand is soft, and most resorts offer kids' clubs and pools. Our guides can recommend family-friendly hotels and arrange car seats for transfers.
For snorkelling, diving or the forest park cable car, booking a day ahead is wise in high season. We can pre-book with trusted operators so you avoid queues and language issues.
