What it is

Opened on 12 September 2005, Hong Kong Disneyland was the first Disney park in China and the second in Asia. Located on Lantau Island, it was built as part of a joint venture between the Hong Kong government and The Walt Disney Company. The park initially featured a smaller layout than its counterparts but has since expanded significantly with new attractions such as Toy Story Land, Mystic Manor, and the first-ever World of Frozen, which opened in 2023. Its design incorporates Chinese feng shui principles, with a deliberate bend in the entry path to ensure positive energy flow.

The park is divided into seven themed lands: Main Street, U.S.A.; Adventureland; Fantasyland; Tomorrowland; Toy Story Land; Grizzly Gulch; and Mystic Point. Each offers unique rides, shows, and character interactions. Highlights include the thrilling Hyperspace Mountain, the enchanting 'Mickey and the Wondrous Book' show, and the immersive Frozen-themed area with its own castle. Unlike other Disney parks, Hong Kong Disneyland is known for shorter queues and a more relaxed atmosphere, making it ideal for families with young children or those seeking a less crowded experience.

Highlights

  • World of Frozen — Step into the kingdom of Arendelle, meet Elsa and Anna, and experience the groundbreaking Frozen Ever After boat ride.
  • Hyperspace Mountain — A Star Wars-themed overlay of the classic Space Mountain roller coaster, offering high-speed thrills in the dark.
  • Mystic Manor — A unique, trackless dark ride exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland, featuring stunning special effects and a haunting soundtrack.
  • Festival of the Lion King — A Broadway-style musical extravaganza with acrobatics, puppetry, and beloved songs from the film.
  • Paint the Night Parade — A dazzling nighttime parade with over 700,000 LED lights, floats, and beloved Disney characters.
