Chunxi Road is Chengdu's beating commercial heart — a pedestrian shopping street the length of a runway — and Taikoo Li is its elegant open-air counterpart, where grey-brick heritage buildings hold flagship stores and teahouses. Together they are where modern Chengdu does its shopping, snacking and people-watching.

Chunxi Road has been Chengdu's main commercial street since the 1920s. Today it is a broad pedestrian boulevard of department stores, snack chains and neon, drawing crowds in the tens of thousands daily. A short walk east, Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li Chengdu reworks the same energy into a low-rise, courtyard-style complex built around the restored Daci Temple: boutique shopping, design hotels, and some of the city's most Instagrammed architecture — including the climbing panda sculpture scaling the IFS tower next door.
The pair shows both faces of the city: loud, democratic Chunxi; composed, design-forward Taikoo Li. They combine naturally with an evening at the Anshun Bridge a few minutes south.

Metro Line 2 or 3 to Chunxi Road station exits directly onto the street; Line 2/3 also serve the area from most central hotels. From Tianfu Square it is one stop. Taikoo Li is a 5–10 minute walk east along the pedestrian flow. The area is flat and fully walkable — plan it on foot rather than by cab between the two.
Free to roam, obviously — you pay only for what you buy. Shops generally run from late morning to about 10 pm; individual hours vary — your guide confirms on the day. Weekends and evenings are packed; weekday afternoons are calmest. Payment is WeChat/Alipay everywhere, and most international brands accept foreign cards. Lockers at IFS and Taikoo Li help if you are mid-journey with luggage.
Weekday afternoons for relaxed shopping; evenings for the neon spectacle (and the crowds that come with it). The area works in all seasons — air-conditioned in summer, lit up in winter — making it the default plan for rainy days in Chengdu. For seasonal planning citywide, see our best-time guide.

Both, if you can. Taikoo Li for design, dining and calm; Chunxi for street snacks, bargains and spectacle. They are minutes apart.

Yes — pedestrian streets, plenty of food, and the panda are easy wins with kids; just hold hands in the evening crowds.
